Shoes for CrossFit to Enhance Performance
Still using your old running shoes to workout in the gym? If so, let’s get rid of those and let me give you my recommendations shoes for CrossFit to enhance performance!
Let’s begin by why I want you to get rid of your running shoes. They are not the greatest option for CrossFit because of the overly cushioned soles. We do a lot of lifting in CrossFit right? Well, imagine lifting a barbell on a bed mattress. You will start sinking in the mattress, having a hard time to balance and barely able to lift anything or even stand properly. This is basically happening when you wear running shoes with a lot of cushioning during training. What is desirable when lifting weights is a solid sole. The closer we are to bare feet, the better it is essentially.
Believe it or not, there are shoes that are made for CrossFit. These shoes have a flat, solid sole from the base of the heel to the balls of our feet to give us a solid base when lifting. They come with a flexible toe box to allow athletes to perform movements like jumping, running and burpees without discomfort. Small touches have also been made over the years to improve movements such as role climbs and handstand push ups. Here are the shoes I recommend:
Reebok is the official sponsor of the CrossFit Games and have been working with CrossFit for nearly 10 years to develop optimal sports wear for the sport. The Reebok Nano series are on to its 8th shoe called the Reebok Nano 8 Flexweave.

Nike has also hopped on the CrossFit bandwagon as this sport has shown significant growth in the last 10 years. They produced the shoe Nike MetCon which are designed for CrossFit. They are on to their 4th shoe of the series called the Nike MetCon 4.

So, which should you get? I have personally never worn the Nike MetCon series but have tried pretty much every Reebok Nano shoes. All our coaches here at Port Tower CrossFit are wearing the Reebok Nano 8 at the moment and we love them. They are very light, durable, and provide pretty much everything a CrossFitter is looking for. I have only heard good things about the Nike MetCon as well. I recommend to look at customer reviews on the internet for both shoes and also the pricing and color designs. Both shoes for CrossFit are available for custom design but the price will bump up of course.
Hope that helped! If you have further questions feel free to contact us.
